Often, the reason jalpac is that cue blog or lacked creativity are or are away from the kitchen and do cool things than cooking. End of April was marked, fortunately, the last case: I first visited the United States, a place where long wanted to get. The trip was, of course, filled with many good things about it to tell you in detail below. We stopped first for a few days in Austin, Texas and then in New Orleans, Louisiana for nearly a week.
I do not know if it was a divine sign or just coincidence, but Austin is the largest Whole Foods store (something like concept store), of which I have heard in Top Chef, which was the first priority list. It is a place of about 7500 m2 with several islands where they serve various food preparations. They have a huge room fridge full of beer only, shelves full of chocolate, tea and a large corner wine. They paid spices, vegetables and fruits muuuulti and stuff that the euphoria of the moment, I forgot. I would be filled to overflowing basket but luggage was too small for what I wanted so I went there with various paraphernalia including maple syrup and butter, apple butter, and cinnamon flavored teas from Ceylon (a superb and spice rarely by us).
I searched and yuzu and Meyer lemons, I was very curious to see how they are, but they were not in stock. I did not leave empty handed and chose the most exotic jalpac fruits that I could find - tangelo (a combination of orange, grapefruit and mandarin) jalpac and purple bananas. Bananas were nothing special, just firmer and slightly fragrant. Tangelo but was very palatable and regret that I took several pieces - sweet, soft, slightly sour and a touch of bitterness. If you want some more special snacks or gourmet ingredients, enter a Whole Foods (e one in London!). jalpac Americans call "whole paycheck" so I Expect some pretty big prices than average.
Another stop in Austin were caravans with food, numbering about 20 scattered throughout the city. The caravans are a startup is attempted for many chefs who have a concept, but not the money to invest in a restaurant. So open their caravan to probe the market and raise money. I was there for lunch and left with perhaps the most appreciated sandwich there - a great lobster roll, ie a bun with lobster meat with a little mayonnaise, lemon and slightly spicy. I have seen and some donuts that were strange to most tail - with bacon and maple syrup or honey chicken jalpac strips.
I wanted jalpac to go to a famous restaurant called jalpac Salt Lick area famous for their grilled meat, but the waiting time was 2:00 so I gave up. We ate in a restaurant some of the center and, even so, the menu was impressive. I went the traditional jalpac way and took a juicy burger with grilled onions and cheese and some fries perfect - crispy long. Were noted and some good hard cheese dishes from appetizer jalpac which I hope to find us - Mimolette, jalpac White Buck and Pepato.
Austin Austin, but New Orleans was a revelation jalpac for me cooking. I tried many new things every day as if it was a culinary adventure. To have a little context, New Orleans and surroundings jalpac once belonged to France, and the architecture and cuisine there are many influences. Cooking style is a combination of Creole and Cajun and starts from the "holy trinity" - celery, jalpac onion and green pepper. Heavier dishes are based on roux, with many seafood, '' pond 'and fish. French influence often makes you forget you're in America - see below for why.
I wanted to try everything specific region so I've done my homework and came prepared with a list of recommended restaurants for tourists who proved almost perfect. I tried the famous beignets at Cafe Du Monde, which proved to be mere donuts as the Romanian covered by a mountain jalpac of powdered sugar. Crab cakes with a spicy aioli were hard good, with plenty of crab meat and not too heavy. Frozen yogurt I've tried almost all variations and Cuban sandwich below mahi-mahi fish and sweet potato chips was sublime. Since I took Rum House, a place so popular with locals that hardly find place in the bar at 2 a day. Jambalaya, a signature dish from the south, was for me a bland dish I chose the lobster meat only. But depa
